Masala Dabba

This is my first ever Masala Dabba, or Indian spice kit, thanks to my mother who purchased this as my birthday gift. We had a great time picking out spices at Mayuri Grocery in Redmond, Washington.  Thanks are also due to Vinita, a friend of my husband’s, who suggested the stores where we found the dabba and spices.  I'll be spending more time shopping at the nearby Indian grocery stores in the future, as I begin to explore the world of Indian cooking.


Clockwise from the top: turmeric, coriander seed, chili, cumin, fenugreek, fennel seed.  In the middle is black mustard see.  Not pictured here, but waiting for dabba #2 are anise and cardamom.



I'll be posting news of my food experiements in the months to come.  Check back for tales of chai, bollywood, and wine pairings.  :)

Really thoughful blog about Masala Dabba. I loved reading it. Are they real jpgs or has the artwork been edited. Thanks for blogging this useful info.
